colour and symmetry

Today’s exercise from one book was to paint a background in watercolours before tangling in ink. I found this quite hard as I didn’t draw a string (areas) in pencil first as I wasn’t sure if it would rub off or be covered up. This technique could do with more practice.

For the mandala, I extended yesterday’s rotational symmetry with four-fold bilateral symmetry which, I think, has worked quite well.
