Finding me about to use his soldering iron to make a hole in this bucket, the lump stepped in and used a drill then fitted a grommet and spout.

I put some fabric on the inside as a filter, filled it with damp perlite, and sowed carrot seeds. Here it is with a hose jammed onto the pipe and some plastic sheeting as a light-suppressant.

And the lettuces from hydro-experiment #1 are growing beautifully!
