more colours, joey#7 and diva#166

Here’s that watercolour background after doodling. I’m losing the point of the colour, I think, by doodling all over it as if it was plain card.

So next I tried deliberately using the watercolour circle(s) as a flower. Here on a small piece of card

and here on a larger piece.

And, lastly in today’s catch-up, a couple of challenges: #7 from madeByJoey which was to highlight the string (the layout lines) rather than absorbing them into the doodling as is usual.

and diva #166 which was to use a particular tangle, in this case, the one at the top right which doesn’t yet have a name. Mine turned into a reflection of Hokusai’s Great Wave, so I added the flower as Mt Fuji which, I think, has spoiled it.

[update] Thank you so much for such generous comments!

Wow, they are all amazing!! In your first piece you have two big leafs that are eyecatching!! I have been studying them to see what tangles you used to create them. Really different and beautiful!! Awesome work!! :0) Share Humanity

  2. Love the way you made the challenge piece look like an erector set!

Thank you – we call it meccano over here. As soon as I saw the tangle with no name, I thought of meccano so morphed them into each other.

I love the “Great Wave” in the original and your interpretation of it. And I don’t think that the flower spoils it at all. And one of these days I am going to learn how to do the water droplet magnifying effect you did on the tile for Joey’s challenge. That is impressive.

Thanks! I learned how to do the droplet from “One zentangle a day”; essentially you pencil the droplet shape and tangle all around it, then distort the tangle within the shape and add shading.

I wanted to let you know that your link didn’t work on my challenge but I was able to track you down from last week’s challenge. Your challenge pieces and your watercolour circles are simply stunning! I must try that watercolour technique. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your gorgeous work with us!

Wow, some great work here, Sal. I actually really like the watercolour backgrounds AND tangles all over them and do this myself now. The Diva Challenge is amazing and a really unique take on the new tangle. Axxx
